Vegas & Palau Trip!

Back in February, we had the honor of shooting two destination weddings: Cherry & Keith in Las Vegas, and Angie & Oliver’s in Palau! After taking a red eye immediately after a wedding at Ihilani, we landed in Vegas, hands full with a ton of luggage (and Alan’s two girls!) and began filming for our SDE at the M Resort. The wedding flew by, and before we knew it, we were showing the SDE to Cherry and Keith and their friends, and family who came to celebrate their big day. We stayed in Vegas for a couple more days, taking in the sights and sounds of the strip. Alan got us tickets to see Cirque du Soleil’s “O”, a mesmerizing water performance with haunting music at the Bellagio, and the slick Jabbawockeez show at the Luxor…our minds were blown after that!

We flew back to Oahu, where Alan and I met Zairrah at the airport later in the afternoon to catch a flight out to Palau. We had an entire day to ourselves before the wedding, so we took full advantage and booked a boat to visit the famous Jellyfish Lake, which is a couple hours south of Koror (the main island). Along the way, we visited the Milky Way, a lagoon that has clay-like sediment that is supposed to help with maintaining healthy skin, and covered each other with the sediment, as per the tradition of the visitors to the area ๐Ÿ™‚ We were very fortunate when we got to Jellyfish Lake, because a large tour group had just left, and we essentially had the whole lake to ourselves! It’s hard to describe the feeling of going underwater, the world going silent, but all around you are thousands of Jellyfishes, rhythmically swimming and glowing in the afternoon sun. The interesting thing about these creatures is that due to the lack of any natural predators in the lake, over thousands of years, they evolved and lost their stingers, so they are completely harmless! Following that, our guide took us to a reef where you can get really up close and personal with the fishes! There were moments where it felt like we were in a Nat Geo documentary because of the sheer number of fishes that were swimming around ๐Ÿ™‚ Angie & Oliver’s wedding was a cool fusion of western and Palauan traditions, and everything turned out quite beautiful!

Anyways, enough rambling…enjoy the photos!
